I’m Andrew Hall. Photographer, filmmaker, and explorer based in the Nevada Desert. My creative work explores themes of isolation, history, and imagination through photography, video, and audio.

I’m drawn to abandoned places, desolate landscapes, industrial ruins, and the echoes of military history. Whether I’m shooting the scarred terrain of the desert or capturing forgotten structures on the verge of collapse, these real spaces ignite my imagination and conjure visions of unknown worlds.

This website is my visual archive. A living archive of adventures and memories that crave to be shared. My goal is to preserve these moments, to decode and transmit them for others to experience the beauty in decay, mystery in silence, and truth in shadows.

Photography

Photography is the first pillar of my creative arsenal. I document desert landscapes, ghost towns, industrial zones, and military environments with a cinematic eye and silent reverence of the Earth. My favorite work involves dangerous excursions into desolate landscapes, long exposures at night, and capturing neon-lit, surreal images rich with post-apocalyptic and cyberpunk themes.

Projects like Valley of Fire 2024, Desert Ghost Town, and Area 51 Nightscapes are examples of my process of blending realism with creative aesthetics. These aren’t just photos — they’re fragments of alternate realities and dreamscapes from other dimensions.

Video Production

The second pillar of my artistic expression is video production. Video enables me to transform my vision into a world of motion beyond still images. The cinematic content I create is for both clients and my personal projects, and encompass videography, editing, motion graphics, VFX, and full-scale video production.

My signature style is dark, gritty and encoded with real-world light and texture. Whether I’m shooting an industrial site, a historical location, or working with an independent creator or local client, my goal is always to tell a compelling story.

Podcasting

The third pillar in my creative process started in March of 2020, when I launched my podcast as an expressive outlet to explore topics I care deeply about. Beginning with Cold War history, the conversation quickly expanded into more mysterious and esoteric topics like UFOs, science fiction, and emerging technologies. The podcast is Dead Hand Radio, a series that blends historical analysis with speculative storytelling.

Podcasting allows me to bring a different kind of depth to my work. It’s where I get to talk directly to researchers, authors, artists, and filmmakers, diving into stories that inspire and encourage me. You can find episodes on Spotify, YouTube and all major podcast platforms.

My Journey

My path here wasn’t a straight line. I grew up in Vacaville, California, and joined the U.S. Air Force right after high school in search of purpose and experience. After my service, I bounced between jobs — limo driver, security guard, warehouse worker — before discovering my passion for design and visual storytelling.

In 2001, I launched AMI Studios Inc. from my living room. I started out building websites and graphic design projects for friends and clients. Over the years, I worked with organizations like VH1, Nevada Broadcasters Association, and Terrible Herbst — helping them establish powerful visual identities and strong online presence.

Eventually, I shifted my focus away from agency-style client work and toward my true passion: photography and visual storytelling. Today, I operate as a solo creative, working from home, staying loyal to a select group of long-term clients while dedicating the rest of my time to fine art, exploration, and creative development.

My Creative Mission

At the heart of my work is a desire to document forgotten spaces, construct new worlds from abandoned ones, and share moments that feel like whispers from the void. Whether I’m using a camera, a video timeline, or a microphone, I’m driven by the same core question:

What stories are hiding in plain sight, waiting to be uncovered?

I invite you to explore, connect, and follow along as this adventure continues.
